— Description from selecting the Street level on Slaughter Me Street: 1999

The Street is one of the playable locations in Slaughter Me Street: 1999, Being the third level.

Appearances[]

Slaughter Me Street: 1999[]

The Street appears as the third level right after the Forest on the Normal mode of 1999. It is where Tim and his Daughter initially lived at before moving to the House and includes part of the Apartment from the first game. The building itself has many abandoned and rotting rooms, some of which having large holes in the floors that can be vaulted through similar to the railings of the House. Also in the building are a couple of doors that can not be opened, stairs and an elevator. The apartment only has 3 to 4 floors that can be properly traversed. There are other buildings that can be accessed such as the S-Mart as well as a sewer system under the streets.

As alluded to in the files, the Apartment seemed to be in poor condition even before Tim moved out of them. Although since then the building has been abandoned entirely to rot, having a smell of decay and some of the rooms starting to collapse. It is unknown what caused it to be shut down to begin with or if it had anything to do with Tim. Based on Tim's journal entries one of the poor conditions listed was things needing to be fixed (like a door), and that the landlord having a bad attitude which may suggest some neglect of the general building. The other journal entries that take place in this location centers around Tim making things to help with his Pitch for "Foggle Friends" (creating costumes) and his general reactions to how his hard work is perceived. It is here that Tim also finds a Summoning Tome, assuming it's from one of his neighbors. After his show was accepted he started having dreams involving the demons, One of which resulted in a "Goat-like Entity" and "Bird Monster" breaking into his room. Eventually, Tim moves out of the apartment after the show becomes a hit, going to a house just out of town.

Tips[]

  • This level has a total of five possible threats (not counting the Nightmare). but only four of them will be chosen in a given run unlike the previous two levels where the enemies would be more or less the same no matter how many times the level is replayed. Because of this, it is best to learn how to tackle some of these newer threats as these will be reoccurring threats for the rest of the game.
    • Follower: He will not move (or have his speed drastically decreased) when looking at him. However, he is also very fast should the player look away from him. When stunning him with the flashlight, The player must keep an eye on him until they can safely break his line of sight as turning away from Follower while stunned will cause him to immediately recover. He and also follow the player into crawlspaces.
    • Greeter: The Greeter has the ability to quickly teleport to other areas should certain conditions be met. Otherwise she can be easily dealt with using the stun from the flashlight. She also has a chance to go to and linger around Relics occasionally any time she looks around.
    • Waiter: If the Waiter spots the player, a red light will appear on his face as he runs to the player, using the stun in this state will not work. The player must wait for the Waiter to approach them so the light can turn green so the player can stun him. Failing to do so or running away from the Waiter when this happen will cause him to change phases again where he will rush the player down unable to be stunned. Should this happen the player would need to make a large amount of distance from him as to not get caught such as using a vaulting point.
    • Hunter: The Hunter is a large, fast moving threat that will accelerate over time should he spot you. A simple stun will stop him in his place and reset his speed.
  • This level also introduces a type of Vent that only Gomez can use. He will occasionally appear from one of these vents to try and ambush the player but the player could easily hear him coming by the sound cues.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first level that introduces the rest of the puppets, most of whom have mechanics that call back to the original game (ie, Follower slowing down/freezing when the player looks at him and the Waiter forcing the player to stop for a moment to deal with him).
  • While Most of the demons (aside from the Nightmare) do not appear in this level normally, the files imply that Tim first sees the demons while at the Apartment through a dream.
  • The Street can be considered the 2nd level that uses a previous location alongside the House, Although unlike the House, the Apartment, while given some updates and expansions is only a part of a bigger map.
  • Strangely, In the Files both Tim and the Investigator come in contact with the same Relic, the Summoning Tome, in this area, specifically in the Apartment.
