“ | The brown short creature is the Screamer. He is quite passive and will not go out of his way to harm you. He will, however, stop what he is doing to scream at you, alerting either the Seeker or Greeter to your whereabouts. He also can be stopped with perfect timing and a light in his face - which will cause him to panic and leave. | ” |

The Screamer is a demon and the tertiary antagonist in 123 Slaughter Me Street 2. He first appears in Level 5.
Physical Appearance[]
The Screamer is a slim, hairy-looking creature with black curled goat-like horns, similar to the Seeker and the Follower. He has a small black nose, and his eyes are reflective and blood-shot red with greyish pupils. He also has ten long, sharp teeth and large slimy gums. His top jaw seems to extend far over his bottom one, and he has large tufts of fur at his cheeks. He lacks arms and has a large hole on his chest, revealing stuffing inside it. He has light-brownish fur, very small dog-like ears, he also has a dog nose and feet that resemble hooves. His back also reveals his spine is sticking out slightly which is covered in light brown skin. He seems to be as tall as the player and moves very stiffly when he walks.
History/Behavior[]
123 Slaughter Me Street 2[]
The Screamer is a creature that starts appearing in Level 5: Flashing Screams, he is more passive and slower than the other demons, but if he sees the player, he will emit a high pitch scream, alerting the other demons to their location. He can be stunned momentarily by the flashlight, giving the player a chance to move away. Though he does not actively chase after the player, if the player gets too close to him, the Screamer will still attack and kill the player. If the player is fast enough they can stun the Screamer before he alerts the other demons, doing so gives the player the "Quick on the Draw" achievement for flashing the Screamer.
Slaughter Me Street 1999[]
The Screamer behaves similarly to his appearance in Slaughter Me Street 2 with some small differences. He will alert all enemies to the player's position should he spot them before giving chase himself. If he is alone however, he will skip the alert and chase after the player immediately. He is still stunned by the flashlight, and the alert can be stopped if the player manages to shine the light on him fast enough. He is capable of breaking the vent covers but can not enter them himself. Like the other demons, should the Screamer spot the Player entering a Safe Zone, said Safe Zone will become compromised.
Speculations[]
This article or section contain speculation, so please keep that in mind while reading.
The Screamer's scream and then alerting The Seeker or The Stalker could be symbolic to Tim Denson's daughter screaming to call for help while her father is attempting to kill her.
He may represent one of the family trio - being the child. Eventually, the Screamer and his actions may represent the child crying for their parents' help when confronted by the predator/criminal (as the protagonist of this game is the criminal himself for killing his own daughter). As a child being too young to outsmart the criminal in order to escape, it may be the reason why the Screamer can't directly chase the player.
The Screamer with lack of arms could be symbolic to Tim Denson as himself being tied up with a straight jacket if he was insane (as becoming mentally ill by the Nightmare during the game's opening intro) or getting handcuffed by the police for committing murder on his daughter. It could also represent his daughter's helplessness.
Trivia[]
- Originally, the Screamer along with the other demons would've had voices as stated by DAGames on a live stream. The reason for these voices being scrapped is unknown apart from a hint from Will saying that the voices wouldn't have fit in because of the tone of the game.
- The Screamer was previously known as "The Alarmist".
- Near the end of the Steam Greenlight Trailer, the Screamer's scream can be heard for a split second.
- Due to his lack of arms, The Screamer opens doors with his mouth.
- It might be possible that the Screamer's appearance is inspired from the fan-made OC art by Shiro Kitsuni as both have similar appearance, hind legs, and lack of arms. The fan art can be found from the official 123 Slaughter Me Street Facebook page here.
- His teaser art and early model also shows a scar on his left eye, which he lacks in the actual game.
- Strangely, this scar can still be seen in early development for the Screamer before he had his fur added.
- He is the only one of the demon trio in Slaughter Me Street 2 that does not seem to have been a direct inspiration for any of the puppets designs due to how different he is compared to Waiter (The only puppet that also does not have a direct demonic inspiration), thus making him the first demon character in the series to have this distinction with the second being Mr. Pig from the early planned version of SMS 3.
- In 123 Slaughter Me Street 2 there are several bugs and glitches associated with the Screamer's model, some of which still exist in the latest version of the game. These include:
- Screamer's teeth disappearing
- Screamer walking backwards
- Screamer clipping through the floor
- Screamer's model walking sideways in the floor being unable to detect the player, while phasing through walls
- Screamer's model leaning forwards
- In 123 Slaughter me street 2, The Screamer shared his jumpscare sound with The Stalker, just pitched differently. In 1999, he shares his jumpscare sound with The Nightmare, at least, The Nightmare's jumpscare sound from the original game; while the Nightmare's jumpscare sound is now shared with The Seeker in 1999.
