The Greeter is the secondary antagonist and one of the three puppets in 123 Slaughter Me Street. She is also featured on the Foggel Friends poster alongside The Follower and The Hunter.

The Greeter makes an appearance in 123 Slaughter Me Street 2. She appears in a lifeless state along with the other puppets from the first game. She is replaced by her more ghastly counterpart that appears as an antagonist.

Physical Appearance[]

The Greeter is a pink, furry, and slender humanoid egret, with two dark brown horns and a greyish brown beak. Her fur ends at her elbow joints so that brown skin is seen on her forearms and hands, which are large and four-fingered with sharp, yellow claws protruding from the ends of them. She has four tiny white teeth on her bottom jaw. She has two-toed feet which have claws the same color as her horns.

In the first game, the Greeter's has black eyes with red irises. In the second game, she has white eyes with blue irises like the other puppets from the previous game.

In Retro, She is almost entirely pink outside of her belly which is a greyish color. Her horns are also light grey rather than dark brown and her beak is yellow. Her sprite also seems to have tuffs of fur pointing outwards that is not present in any of her other appearances.

In Evolutions her original model appeared to be largely similar to her appearance in the first game with thin arms and beak similar to the original, but her eyes are seen as glowing red in the first trailer. Her early Evolutions model also had different feet, now resembling talons with three toes. In her new model however, her arms were thickened to give a proper "costume" feel to the character compared to her first model. Her fur now not only ends at her elbow joints, but her knee joins as well as her lower legs are now brown similar to her arms retaining the three toed feet similar to talons. Her beak is now more yellow and pointed and her horns are grey. She now also has purple irises that are able to glow red as seen with teasers.

Behavior[]

123 Slaughter Me Street[]

The Greeter will spring out from the doorway in front of the player while waving her hand, she will linger there and block the path. The player must walk slowly and cautiously to avoid the Greeter when she pops out and the light must be shone at her. Once shone at, she will cover her eyes and retreat into the doorway, screeching. However, if the player somehow does not activate the flashlight in time or bumps into her, she will jump out of the doorway, killing the player. In comparison, the Greeter's behavior is more sporadic and less consistent than her other puppet companions.

It is recommended that the player does not continue to walk while the Greeter is blinded by the flashlight if she hasn't left back to the doorway she's at. Otherwise, the Greeter will still attack the player. The player needs to wait until the Greeter completely retreats.

123 Slaughter Me Street Retro[]

Much like in the first game, She will stay hidden in corridors before appearing in front of the player from one of the corridors, staying in that spot until either she kills the player or the player shines their flashlight on her, which will cause her to cover her eyes and retreat back into the corridor. This process will repeat and get more consistent on later floors. She can only kill the player if they run into her, or if they do not react to her on time as she will quickly move towards the player should they not use their flashlight on her.

She always appears after a fight with Nightmare before the Player reaches the exit.

123 Slaughter Me Street Super Retro[]

In Super Retro, She retains the same mechanics she had from Retro. Although in Infinity Mode she can have the mechanics from any of the other main puppets on a given floor.

Speculations[]

This article or section contain speculation, so please keep that in mind while reading.

She represents the little girl who is killed by the criminal while sneaking in the house, hence the color being pink as this color is associated with girls. The screamer also looks like a normal response to a threat from a little girl (flailing arms and screams). Eventually, the Greeter could represent Tim Denson's own little daughter he killed.

Furthermore, if it is true that the Greeter represent Tim Denson's daughter, her name and her encounter with the criminal is based on how the daughter comes out from the doorway with curiosity and greets her father from the basement, as confirmed on the second game's opening cutscene.

She also bears some resemblance to the demon called The Stalker, implying that her design might have been inspired by said demon. An early steam description of the Stalker also implies a connection between the two.

Trivia[]

  • The Greeter originally had more visible eyes and fluffier fur in the video where she and the Follower are singing while the first game was under development that was slightly similar to her official artwork design.
  • While the Greeter never speaks in the games, one of the earliest teasers has her and the Follower singing.
    • On the non canon Odd Stories channel, the Greeter is capable of speech like the Follower.
  • From another one of her early models, she looks slightly different with light-orange eyes, longer horns, and completely missing any fur.
  • In one of the screenshots of her early model, the colors of developing fur are blue and then green.
  • The Greeter could resemble the Fireys from the Jim Henson movie Labyrinth.
  • There exists a somewhat helpful bug where the player can still shine the flashlight at her while facing back.
  • In the game's files, she's mentioned as "Muppet 2", meaning that she was the second puppet to be modeled.
  • She and the other puppets from the first game got plushies.
  • Her real name is Egret. This was first seen in a tweet, teasing SMS: Evolutions.
    • "Egret" is not only an anagram of "Greet" but it is also the species of bird which she happens to be.
  • In Rigging streams for the characters in Evolutions, Greeter and the other puppets' eyes turn black during their jump scares.
