Slaughter Me Street: 1999 is an official spin off that is currently in Early Access.
Summary[]
You are being hunted for your misdeeds. With blood on your hands and weight on your conscience, you must collect the relics of your past, and confront your demons once and for all...
...or die trying.
Welcome back to Slaughter Me Street.
In this official spin-off to the 123 Slaughter Me Street franchise, you are tasked with collecting the Relics that have been randomly dispersed throughout the house, while avoiding the terrors that hunt you down. Your only solace is your trusty flashlight, and the scarce safe zones located around the house. Can you survive?
Gameplay[]
The Player's goal is to collect 7 Relics in the map and escape while surviving threats which roam the building and can hear their movement. The player either must hide in Safe Zones and use their Flashlight to stun the threats temporarily while looking through the map for relics that can spawn in different locations.
The Demo includes one playable map (The House) and 5 difficulties (Easy, Normal, Hard, Nightmare, and Slaughter). Once the player has completed the level on any difficulty, Tokens will spawn on the map for subsequent playthroughs. The Demo also only has 4 challenges, Lights Out, Empty Nester, Beast on a Leash. and Claustrophobia.
Features[]
- Classic First-Person Horror gameplay with a focus on speed, exploration, and reaction time.
- 2 separate game modes: Normal Mode and Challenge Mode, each featuring their own levels.
- A dark narrative that unfolds naturally over the course of the game, loosely based on previous Slaughter Me Street titles.
- 9 unique enemies with unique behaviors and traits from one another, all ready to tear you apart.
- 5 completely unique levels set in locations both new and familiar to the Slaughter Me Street series.
- 5 challenging difficulties to really push you to your absolute limits.
- A plethora of Challenge levels to unlock, adding new and terrifying ways to suffer.
- Unique and gory kills inspired by classic 80's slasher films, leaving persistent pools of blood where you died.
- A completely original soundtrack for you to die over and over to.
- Over 30 Steam Achievements to unlock.
Alternate Builds[]
There is an April Fools version of the Demo that only has one level, The Forest, as well as "one" threat. There are several differences with how this build functions compared to the normal demo including:
- The Tokens taking place of the Relics.
- There are no Safe Zones anywhere.
- The Phase never changes, being stuck to "Pre-Game" for the entire run.
- While only "one" threat exists there are 10 copies of them roaming the map after 20 seconds.
It should be noted that the layout and gameplay of the Forest featured in the April Fools update is not representative of the version that will appear in the final game.
Tips[]
- Almost EVERY form of movement will make some amount of noise that the creatures CAN hear.
- If the player runs, there is a high chance that an enemy will hear them.
- If the player walks, while it still makes noise, it is much quieter and is not as likely to get the player caught.
- If the player crouches, they are silent (Unless they are going through a vent).
- Landing out of falls (such as after leaping the railing for example) will also trigger a VERY LOUD noise.
- Opening doors and vents makes noises as well. The Garage door will be heard by EVERY single creature on the map, for example, so it's best to open it early if the player feels the need to. The player could also use this to their advantage to lure creatures away from areas they may want to be.
- The Stun Power on the player's flashlight is VERY useful, capable of stunning every threat giving some time to escape or make some distance.
- While the Nightmare can also be stunned with this method, it is not as effective as the Nightmare recovers from stuns faster than the other demons.
- The Player should also be careful when using the Stun in Safe Zones as doing so WILL COMPROMISE the spot.
- The Flashlight will recharge only if it is turned off, Hiding in a Safe Zone while the flashlight is off will make it charge significantly faster!
- The amount of batteries the player is able to find and have differs on difficulty. For example on Easy the player will have one spare battery and may find 2 extra batteries somewhere on the map, However on Nightmare difficulty, the player will not have a spare battery and will only find one extra battery somewhere on the map.
- Picking up relics WILL ALERT the nearest enemy, causing them to walk to that relic's position. Once the player picks a Relic up, they'd be better off making some distance or hiding as soon as possible.
- All possible spawn locations for relics are categorized by specific "Zones", and there will only ever be one Relic at most per Zone. For example, the "Living Room" Zone makes up the Living Room, the Study, the Laundry Room, and the First Floor Bathroom. If a relic spawns in that zone, then it will be the only one in that zone.
- Hiding in Safe Zones will make the player invisible to enemies. These areas glow with a green light, but If they change to red, then the player was seen entering a safe zone by one of the threats, compromising it. It will clear itself after 25 seconds.
- The Vents and other crawlspaces are only safe from most of the creatures, and can make for a good escape. Just be careful of creatures that can also go into crawlspaces like the Stalker!
- The Pre-Game phase can last up to 99 seconds, if the player chooses not to collect the relics immediately. This can be used to the player's advantage by scouting out where some of the relics are located and planning a route.
- If seen by a demon, the player must avoid them giving chase for a certain amount of time before whatever is chasing them loses interest (For example the Seeker will quickly lose interest after a certain amount of time, while Stalker won't give up the chase as easily).
- On Higher difficulties, the demons will immediately give chase to the player should the demons spot the player. Skipping any time to react to spotting said player.
- All the demons also recover from stuns MUCH quicker.
- The Flashlight and stamina also drains FASTER, while Recharging is SLOWER.
- If the player is chased by any of the creatures, the Player CAN NOT use a Safe Zone otherwise it'll become compromised as Something would have SEEN the player going in. Instead the player MUST ensure that the creature is no longer after them or can see them (If the Eye icon is Red, Something still sees the player).
- There's only one Demon that the player can not hide from. As once it is active all Safe Zones are destroyed.
- While there are several Exits in the map, once all 7 Relics are obtained only the FURTHEST exit from the 7th Relic will be open. However, this may vary on difficulty.
- The Nightmare also happens to spawn at said exit, so it might be a good idea to try to find him before he finds the player.
Patch Notes[]
Trivia[]
- The development of the demo started in September 1st, 2023.
- The game was also released on December 31, 2023 (which makes it 12/31/23).
- This is the first game in the series to use Unreal Engine as apposed to Unity.
- This is also the first game in the series to not be completely canon that is not a Retro title.
- It also happens to be the first spin off game to be based around 123 Slaughter Me Street 2 rather than the first game unlike the Retro series.
- This is also the first game in the series to not be completely canon that is not a Retro title.
- The game's visuals were inspired by Resident Evil and House of the Dead.
- While the House is the only playable level as of the demo, players that have beaten the House level can see the option for another map called "The Forest". This level however is not able to be played in any of the demos outside of the April Fools version.
- The Follower was featured in the Game's icon and art despite not appearing in the Demos. Despite this he has been teased to be coming soon in the full release of the game.
- Although the Demo takes place in the same location and has the same threats as Slaughter Me Street 2 there are several differences between the two games
- Each of the Demons can be stunned by the flashlight, not just the Screamer.
- The Nightmare is an active threat once the player collects all the relics, instead of being restricted to the outside shed.
- Two rooms have been added to the house in this game, an attic and a storm shelter.
- The vents are no longer entirely safe unlike in Slaughter Me Street 2, as not only can the threats hear the player, but also some Creatures like the Stalker and Nightmare can crawl into the vents after the player and the Screamer can break the vent covers open.
- There are also more vents that have been added around the House.
- While the tokens from Slaughter Me Street 2 returns in this game, an extra one was added to include Gomez.
- The Hunter also uses his Slaughter Me Street: Evolutions design rather than his scrapped Slaughter Me Street 2 appearance.
- The original puppets (as of the Demo) are nowhere to be seen outside of the Foggle Friends poster and on the Tokens.
- The player needs to find 7 Relics instead of one glowing "objective orb" in order to Exit.
- There is no "HIDE!" phase in Slaughter Me Street 1999, only Pre-Game, Seek, and Exit.
- The blue Hiding spots are entirely absent in 1999, only the green Safe zones are present.
- The AI of the Demons are much different in 1999 than in Slaughter Me Street 2, As the Demons in 1999 can actively hear the noises the player makes and will still chase after the player should they go into a Safe Zone while being pursued, instead of immediately leaving the player alone like in Slaughter Me Street 2.
- There are multiple Exits in 1999 compared to the single exit used in Slaughter Me Street 2.
- There are several Easter eggs from previous Slaughter Me Street titles and the community, a number of which can be found in the workshop or around the house.
- Sprites of the Follower, Greeter, and Waiter from 123 Slaughter Me Street Retro can be seen on a texture in the workshop.
- A blue version of Gomez (jokingly referred to as Gomex) can be seen in the workshop.
- The green Waiter head can also be seen in the workshop, which may be a reference to how the Waiter is occasionally portrayed or referred to as green through out the series.
- The Greeter head that has a green beak and spotted fur might be a reference to early development from the first game where the Greeter was given green fur.
- The OTORI relic that was introduced is a reference to a previous Impulse Game Studios game called Midnight Evil. The cartridge that's in it is also initialed "ME".
- Rarely, the player may encounter a white Seeker on a playthrough called "The Yeti".
- There's a rare chance that the car in the garage will be replaced by "Seekar", a meme made by the community. There's an even rarer chance that a special version of Seekar will appear.
- Since the April Fools update, Gomez is the first and only puppet threat the player can face in the Slaughter Me Street: 1999 demos.
- The character was teased to be an upcoming threat with one of the notable examples being the instructions for a prior version of the game saying "G IS REAL 1999".
