Relics are collectible items that first appeared in 123 Slaughter Me Street, and are items that appear throughout the series.
Appearances[]
123 Slaughter Me Street[]
The Relics are introduced in the first game, being able to be located in the hallways or doorways of five of the levels. The player can collect these by simply using the flashlight on them. While entirely optional, Collecting them gives short descriptions that provide vague hints to the story of the series. Relics include:
- A Crowbar: This provided many meals; with unseen uses... (Found on Floor 5)
- A Rocking Horse: It is a shame that this made so much noise in it's silence. (Found on Floor 7)
- A Dollhouse: A simple meal, just another job. What happened? (Found on Floor 4)
- A Doll: The epitome of innocence, cut down in it's youth. (Found on Floor 3)
- A Children's Book: Everybody has a story, every day is a new page. (Found on Floor 1)
123 Slaughter Me Street 2[]
While not a collectable in 123 Slaughter Me Street 2, some of the items that were used for the Relics appears in this game simply as props around the House. The Dollhouse, Rocking Horse and Doll can all be seen in Tim's Daughter's room. The Rabbit Plush that would later become a relic also made it's debut in this game. They can not be interacted with. Curiously, the Rabbit plush's eyes start glowing in Level 8 in a similar vein to the Demons.
The Retro Series[]
Only two of the relics appeared in gameplay of the Retro games. In 123 Slaughter Me Street Retro, the Rabbit Plush and the Rocking Horse appears in the final level that resembles the house called "What Have You Done?". In 123 Slaughter Me Street Super Retro the rabbit plush appears again this time being held by the ghost of Tim's Daughter on the penultimate floor in Story Mode. Like 123 Slaughter Me Street 2, these objects can not be interacted with and are merely part of the background in Retro, and part of a character sprite in Super Retro.
Slaughter Me Street: 1999[]
The Relics return in Slaughter Me Street 1999 as the main collectable the player must get in order to beat the game. Most of the Relics from the first game reappear here with some new additions including:
- A Foggle Friends poster
- An OTORI™ Game Console
In this game, the relics will appear in a random spot on a map categorized into different "zones". Only one relic can be found in each "zone" and the game instantly begins the "Seek" phase should the player chose to pick a relic up before the "Pre-Game" phase ends. Picking up these Relics will also alert the nearest threat making whatever is nearby go to the spot where the relic was. They also glow pink when the player's flashlight is on. Collecting all the relics unlocks the exit furthest from the last Relic the player picked up on the map and spawns the Nightmare at said exit. Each level holds 7 Relics, with the exception of the Inferno, which houses 8 Relics. This 8th relic is a doll that greatly resembles Tim's Daughter.
In the April Fools build of the game the Tokens acts as the "Relics" that are required to beat the Forest. In Demo 1.0.7 onwards the Relics can also appear in challenges where they can not be collected. In Claustrophobia for example, the Relics are scattered in the map but are not able to be interacted with as the collectable required to beat the challenge are the Tokens.
In the full release of the game, the relics play a important part in the story and are mentioned through the Files that the player may pick up in the Normal Mode Levels. These items appear in multiple files and in the case of one, is encountered by multiple characters. Most notably the Investigator picks up or finds most of these items during their investigation aside from two, the Rabbit Plush and the Rocking Horse. The list below is in order of when they are mentioned:
- Summoning Tome: This book was first found by Tim Denson after his show got rejected, It is implied that it may have belonged to someone else before winding up on Tim's doorstep. It's use is what kicks off the rest of the events as after it's use, Tim's show being picked up and he started to have dreams involving the Demons. This same book was later found by the Investigator at the old Suttermill Apartment building, notably having Tim's name written in it a few times. This book's covers are described as dark, leathery and full of bizarre and disturbing markings, it's pages are seemingly full of illegible writing. It also had a note slide underneath the back cover when Tim found it, saying "Make all your dreams come true".
- Rabbit Plush: This toy would always be seen carried by Tim's Daughter according to some of the neighbors around Tim's house. It is described as green in coloration and was not present in the Daughter's room when the Investigator searched the house. This item was never found in the story of the files.
- Otori: This game console was found by the Investigator while exploring The House, found in the Daughter's room. According to an officer, the game that is inserted into it was based on a horror movie that used puppets for the monsters. It was not set to release for another month or so. It was also found with a page underneath it of what's described as a personal diary (Potentially one of Tim's Journal Entries).
- Crowbar: This tool was found by the Investigator in the House's basement. It is suspected that it was the cause of the incident as it still had traces of blood still on both sides of the tool. It seemed to have been washed thoroughly.
- Dollhouse: This toy was found by the Investigator in the Forest somewhere on the campgrounds. The Investigator suspects it might be one of the daughter's belongings, it's only descriptor in the files states that it had a few dried drops of blood on the toy's roof.
- Foggle Friends Poster: The Investigator asked about this item at the Studio. This was when they learned about a specific incident that happened during the filming on the show that involved the death of both of Henry's actors and the Stage Switch System.

Trivia[]
- Most of the Relics relates to the story of the series in some way.
- The Crowbar, Summoning Tome, and Foggle Friends Poster are all items associated with Tim Denson. The Poster being a product of Tim's creation, the Summoning Tome being the book that Tim used to make his dream come true, and the Crowbar being the murder weapon that is presumably a tool that Tim used.
- The Rocking Horse, Doll, Rabbit Plush, and Dollhouse were all things that belonged to Tim's Daughter, Which was given confirmation by the prop's appearance in Slaughter Me Street 2 and the Rabbit Plush being closely associated with the character.
- Early speculation as to how the Relics were involved with the lore came during a brief Retro-styled scene that appeared in one of the Fan Art Videos on IGS's official YouTube Channel that went as followed: The scene depicted the then unnamed Criminal using a crowbar to break into a house, when robbing the house he went into a little girl's room and bumped into the rocking horse that woke up the little girl, ultimately resulting in the girl's death. A plush is also present but it is unknown if it is truly meant to be a precursor to the rabbit, a stand in for the doll or something else entirely at the time. It should be noted that this early explanation has since been debunked or contextualized with new information.
- The Rabbit Plush (assuming that the Doll from 123 Slaughter Me Street is counted as a predecessor) is the only Relic to have made an appearance in every single game since Slaughter Me Street 2.
- The Foggle Friends Poster has appeared in just as many games as the Rabbit Plush (Aside from Retro) and can be considered the "oldest" by virtue of being one of the first things the player sees in the first game despite not being a collectable until 1999.
- Some of the Relics have had their appearance change from game to game or have been outright replaced.
- The Doll from the first game has been largely replaced by a Rabbit Plush in every game after Slaughter Me Street 2 where both were present.
- The Doll would later appear in the Full release of 1999, but it was changed to resemble Tim's daughter rather than it's usual appearance.
- The Storybook from the first game has been replaced by a Summoning Tome in Slaughter Me Street 1999.
- The Doll from the first game has been largely replaced by a Rabbit Plush in every game after Slaughter Me Street 2 where both were present.
- The OTORI ™ seems to be a reference to the ATARI
- The cartridge seen in the OTORI ™ is also a direct reference to Midnight Evil another game that Impulse Games Studios has made.
- The Rabbit Plush's color seems to change depending on the games it's in, Being notably grey and pink or brown in Retro and Super Retro Respectively, a white tannish color in SMS 2, and green in 1999.
- The Rocking Horse is the only Relic present in 1999 that isn't explicitly mentioned in the Files.
