Hiding Spots and Safe Zones are a prominent mechanic in 123 Slaughter Me Street 2.
Function[]
It will start when the "HIDE!" text appears at the center top of the screen after a few minutes during game play. The player must hide from the demons in the house by hiding in either of these areas littered around the map. Hiding spots are indicated by blue lighting while Safe Zones are indicated by green. It should be noted to see these spots the player needs to turn on their flashlight, but it is possible to still go into them without the flashlight being turned on once. When hiding, the player must make sure the hiding spot is closed and not open (in areas such as closets and showers). Hiding in a Hiding Spot long enough makes it into a Safe Zone turning that spot green. The player needs to use up hiding spots a certain amount of times in order to go to the "Seek" phase depending on the level. Depending on which spots the player uses and where they end up will also effect where the "Seek" Objective spawns.
Slaughter Me Street 1999[]
Safe Zones return in Slaughter Me Street 1999 where they are used to hide from the demons. The Safe Zones appear green like in 123 Slaughter Me Street 2, but unlike that game They do not need the flashlight to be on to locate them. Safe Zones can also now become compromised if the player is being chased by a demon or the demons see the player go into the Safe Zones indicated by the green light turning red (It should be noted that in order to hide, the player must crouch as standing up in a Safe Zone can still compromise it), They can also be compromised if the player uses the Flashlight's stun mode while in a Safe Zone. These compromised spots will clear itself after 25 seconds. The player's flashlight battery will recharge significantly faster if it is turned off while they are in a Safe Zone. Safe Zones are also destroyed once the Nightmare becomes active.
Safe Zones are only present on Easy, Normal, Hard, and Nightmare difficulties.
