My name is Gomez. . at least that is what I am told. .

— Gomez introducing himself in 123 Slaughter Me Street Super Retro

Gomez, also known as The Dropper, is a hand puppet and seems to be an antagonist in the upcoming 123 Slaughter Me Street: Evolutions, though this is unconfirmed. He very closely resembles the Nightmare, and can first be seen in 123 SMS Retro, though at that point he did not officially have a name or specific designation.

Physical Appearance[]

Gomez is a Red Bat with two white horns. He has a round pink nose, pink wing membrane, goat-like ears, sharp white teeth and simple black dot eyes. His stomach fur is yellow and the fur around his eyes are black.

In his original debut in 123 Slaughter Me Street Retro, his appearance was identical to the Nightmare as his sprite was a smaller version of the Nightmare's with the only notably difference being an constant angry expression and red eyes.

In 123 Slaughter Me Street Super Retro, He is almost entirely dark red with a purple/pink nose and blue membrane instead of pink. His horns are a similar color to that of his original retro sprite and he lacks different coloration on his belly and around his eyes.

In Slaughter Me Street: 1999, Gomez has different eyes that are only seen elsewhere from the Rigging streams for the Evolutions models, black with a 4-pointed star shaped white pupils. Otherwise his appearance is largely the same as his Evolutions appearance

History/Behavior[]

123 Slaughter Me Street Retro[]

Before Gomez got his name, he was simply a smaller puppet that looked very similar to Nightmare that would spawn during The Nightmare's third boss fight with the player. After that fight, Gomez would begin appearing in most of the remaining levels, quickly flying towards the player from either side at random. Simply shining the flashlight wards him off like all the other puppets, and not doing so gives the player a game over. He is the only threat outside of the Nightmare to appear in later levels.

123 Slaughter Me Street Super Retro[]

In Super Retro, Gomez acts as the tutorial guide and explains the mechanics to the player rather than being an active antagonist like in Retro. He is the only puppet in Super Retro that can not jumpscare the player and is the only character seen in the original retro title to have their mechanic be completely altered.

Slaughter Me Street: 1999[]

Up until Gomez was added in the April Fools demo, he was not physically present in the game, only seen in the Foggle Friends poster Relic, and has his own Token. He officially made an appearance in the April Fools demo, as well as subsequent updates. He functions in a similar way to Screamer where Gomez may scream when spotting the player before giving chase, alerting nearby creatures. However he has a shorter attention span and a longer stun recovery compared to most creatures. He can be temporarily stunned by the flashlight's Stun mode like the other demons and he has every movement capability in the game, being able to fly and traverse crawlspaces just as the Nightmare can.

Demo v4.1.23 (April Fools Update)[]

In the V4.1.23 version of the demo, Gomez appears as the only threat in the Forest.

In terms of the level itself, Gomez will only spawn 20 seconds after the player has started the run (as the level itself never properly changes phases). There are a total of 10 instances of Gomez in the map after 20 seconds has passed in random locations. Should one of the Gomezes spot the player, they will scream and chase after them with the player's only options to try to out run the puppet or use their limited flashlight stun.

Demo v1.0.7[]

In demo version 1.0.7, Gomez can be found in the Claustrophobia Challenge Mode level, alongside the Stalker. In it, 3 instances of him will spawn into the level upon the start of Seek Phase.

Trivia[]

  • Gomez's name originated from 123 Slaughter Me Street Retro where the "Mini Nightmares" were simply named "GOMEZ" in the game's code.
  • In 123 Slaughter Me Street Retro there is a glitch where the player will get stuck and the threats will not able to kill them, Including Gomez.
  • Gomez and the Waiter are the only enemies to have their mechanics or roles be altered from the original Retro to Super Retro as Gomez is not a threat in Super Retro, and the Waiter functions differently than he did in Retro.
  • Gomez and the Nightmare are the only threats capable of speech in the games, Although Gomez only "talks" in Super Retro.
  • Gomez is the only puppet to be based on a type of hand puppet rather than a full-bodied suit like the rest of the cast.
    • Because of this he is not only the smallest character among the puppets, but the smallest character of the whole cast.
  • There is a blue version of the puppet jokingly referred to in the community as "Gomex", "Gomex" would later appear as an Easter egg in Slaughter Me Street 1999 as one of the recolored puppets textured onto the workshop shelf.
  • Gomez's appearance in Slaughter Me Street 1999 was teased in a few teasers and development images, as well as the instructions for the previous demo saying "G IS REAL 1999".
  • Gomez is the only creature to have multiple instances in a given level or challenge in 1999. This was to call back to how the character worked in 123 Slaughter Me Street Retro.
  • In V 4.1.23 There was a chance that one or more of the Gomezes would get stuck on the player through a glitch.
  • Gomez is the only Puppet to have it's actual name known first rather than it's "demon" name as "The Dropper" name first appeared in the Read Me of the 1.0.7 Demo of Slaughter Me Street: 1999
