Gameplay[]

As the title suggests, 123 Slaughter Me Street Super Retro (or 123 SMS Super Retro) is a remaster of the original 123 Slaughter Me Street Retro, which revisions the gameplay system and completely changes the art style (as it is changed from 8-bit to 16-bit).

This version of the first game follows the same story of 123 Slaughter Me Street and 123 Slaughter Me Street Retro, in which you are a criminal attempting to escape from the police and find yourself in an abandoned apartment complex. You must escape from the complex before the puppets in the building catch and kill you.

Most of the gameplay mechanics remain the same as the original 123 Slaughter Me Street Retro, but some mechanics for the enemies are replaced, and some are entirely new. The game also features customizability, as players are able to customize their character with hats and masks, change the color scheme of the UI, and even change the positions of the control buttons.

The game also adds a brand new game mode called Infinity mode in which the player must complete as many levels as they can without getting killed. The mode also adds the ability for any enemy to take the role of another (for example, The Follower could play the role of The Waiter for one of the levels). There is also a chance for a Nightmare boss battle to occur every few levels. The player must beat the first boss battle with the Nightmare in order to unlock this mode.

There are 16 floors in the main Story mode, excluding the tutorial floor at the beginning of the game.

There appears to be 14 floors when the player first starts the game, but there are 2 extra floors that the player must pass afterward to complete the Story mode.

Trivia[]

  • As of September 14, 2023, the game is rated 4.7 stars on the Google Play Store.
  • This is The Hunter's first antagonistic appearance (other than the upcoming Slaughter Me Street Evolutions) in an officially released 123 Slaughter Me Street game. It is also Gomez's first appearance (as his own character).
  • If you tap on one of the R's multiple times on the title on the main menu, the Follower will show up. If you tap on him, his fur will turn from blue to pink, which will appear in gameplay until you repeat the process or quit the game.
    • Strangely, this change is only seen in Infinity mode.
  • It is speculated that Tim Denson goes to Hell at the end of the Story Mode, mainly because of the end cutscene and the final floor, Floor 666.
  • It is also speculated that Tim Denson's daughter is the girl that shows up at the end of Floor 0.
  • On Google's Play Games app there are 20 total Achievements.
    • 8 of these are dedicated to flashing the creatures (The Puppets and the Nightmare)
    • 10 are dedicated to Infinity mode and how many consecutive halls the player is able to complete
    • 2 of these are related to Story Mode and how many times it's beaten.
